Plastering in Glasgow

Plastering across Glasgow means dealing with whatever is behind the wall, and in this city that varies street by street. Tenement ceilings, dot-and-dab on hollow blockwork, patched-up 1970s conversions and clean modern plasterboard all take a different first coat. Pieter checks the substrate before quoting rather than pricing blind.

Skimming, re-skimming, dry lining and repair work is carried out right across the city — Southside, East End, West End and out to the suburbs — with quotes free and no call-out charge.

  • Skim & re-skim over existing plaster
  • Plasterboard, dry lining & taping
  • Ceiling skimming and artex cover-up
  • Wall & plaster repair — cracks, holes & patches
  • Corner beads and clean reveals
  • Damp proofing & damp-damaged wall reinstatement
Our process

How the job runs

No surprises. Here is what happens from the first phone call to the final clean-up.

  1. 01

    Look at the job

Pieter comes out, checks the substrate, and tells you honestly whether it needs a skim, a patch or a full re-board.

  2. 02

    Prep and protect

Floors covered, sockets masked, furniture moved clear. Old loose plaster comes off before anything new goes on.

  3. 03

    Board or bond

Fresh plasterboard where it is needed, PVA or bonding coat where the wall will take it.

  4. 04

    Skim and finish

Two coats, trowelled up as it sets, then a final polish so the wall is flat and paint-ready.

  5. 05

    Clean up

Waste bagged and taken away. You get the room back the way you would want it.

Questions

Plastering in Glasgow — questions

How long does it take to plaster a room?

A typical bedroom or living room skim is a one-day job, sometimes stretching into a second day for ceilings or larger spaces. A full re-board and skim usually runs two to three days.

How long before I can paint new plaster?

Allow the plaster to go fully pale — usually four to seven days depending on the room and the time of year. The first coat should be a watered-down mist coat, not neat emulsion.

Can you plaster over artex?

Yes. Artexed ceilings are normally sealed and skimmed over rather than scraped, which is faster, far less messy, and avoids disturbing older coatings.

Which parts of Glasgow do you cover?

The whole city and the surrounding towns — Southside, East End, West End, North Glasgow and out to Bearsden, Giffnock, Newton Mearns and Rutherglen. If you are unsure whether you are in range, phone and ask.

Do you charge for quotes in Glasgow?

No. Quotes are free, there is no call-out fee, and there is no pressure to book after Pieter has been out.
